We build the leaders who create Southwest Virginia's sustainable communities.
Southwest Virginia is a sustainable environment where people are prosperous, healthy, socially responsible, and harmonious with nature thus assuring the same for future generations.
The U.S. Green Building Council Southwest Virginia Chapter promotes sustainable practices for the built environment through education and leadership in our community. In these lean economic times, we are fortunate to be a part of a growing industry sector – green building. We are also very proud to be a chapter of the fastest growing non-profit organization in the world – the U.S. Green Building Council.
In early 2003, several members of a Roanoke, Virginia, architecture and engineering firm were working with USGBC on a LEED-registered project and, at the same time, preparing to take the LEED AP exam. The group discussed the concept of forming a local chapter of USGBC.
Connect the Dots
Connect the Dots is an annual education and advocacy series launched in 2009 by the Southwest Virginia Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. Each year events, social media and ongoing web-based content are created around a particular sustainable building topic. Local events celebrate the connections we build, social media keeps us engaged, and our website serves as an ongoing resource for our membership and fellow citizens.
Virginia USGBC Chapters
As one of three USGBC chapters serving the Commonwealth of Virginia, we often collaborate to educate and broaden our impact across the state. We invite you to learn more about the work they are doing.
